Patterns: Sheet Music Creator with Automatic Transposition and PDF Export
Patterns is a built-in Mingus app that lets you write, transpose, and export sheet music as PDF.
The logic is simple: write something in C, then transpose it to other keys with one click.
Patterns was primarily designed to quickly transpose a given pattern or melody into all 12 keys for practicing in all keys.
Patterns goes further: write and transpose sheet music and export it as PDF. You can even export a ready-to-go PDF booklet for distribution with sheet music and text.
Intuitive Score Writing and PDF Export
Patterns is designed to be simple and non-restrictive.
Score writing programs can be complex (and sometimes necessary, if you plan to write an opera, for example), but Patterns is conceived as if you were handwriting your score, allowing you to freely draw and move notes and symbols around without bar restrictions.
For patterns or licks that you intend to study with your instrument, simply write them in C, and click the 12 Keys button to have your lick transposed to all keys.
Patterns also prints the lick or pattern formula in intervals
The Invert option adds another layer of complexity. This function inverts the lick you write, instantly giving you another exercise to study related to your musical phrase.Hover over notes to hear their sound played on piano.
When exporting, you can select to export single pages or a PDF booklet with your selected pages.
A text editor allows you to create text pages (such as covers, introductions, etc.) that you can include in your booklet. A good option if you intend to share or even sell your material as PDF books.
